About Me
Susie
Finding something interesting to write about can be a challenge for any writer. I am lucky enough to have a family history brimming with fascinating people and events. This blessing led me to write my first two books - Steel Glory: The Life of Shipbuilder Arthur Sewall (1835-1900) and From Down East to Midwest: The Life of Margaret Sewall Hector (1889-1977). After publishing Down East, I shifted my focus to children’s historical fiction and wrote Saving the Schooner and Fire Runner (JESSPress). In addition to my books, I have written short stories and articles for a variety of publications on a variety of topics. (Please see my Articles & Stories page for more information.)

Even though writing is mostly a solo endeavor, I wouldn’t be able to do it without help. Countless people have assisted me along the way, including librarians, editors, critiquers, family members,  and friends.  I can’t thank them enough. Of course, I am especially grateful to my readers, who make my writing all worthwhile, my supportive family, and my furry companion.
